It is often believed that NCERT is more than enough for NEET. This is mostly true for Biology but when it comes to Chemistry and Physics you need to put in additional effort.

As far as organic chemistry is considered, Additional practice is a must. You can always use NCERT as a base so that you get an idea about

  • the contents covered in the chapter
  • Reactions or processes including named reactions

You can expect a lot of questions wherein products need to be identified from Organic Chemistry. To answer such questions, you should know:

  • The reaction mechanism
  • The reaction conditions
  • Impact of the reagent

You will understand the method to solve such questions only through practice. At times, there would be few mechanisms that might not be mentioned in NCERT.

To learn the mechanisms of such reactions, you should have an additional resource. I had used an app called Basidia for my NEET preparations. This app has got all that you need for NEET. Studying Reaction mechanisms is easy with the help of this app. It has got

  • The details of reaction intermediates
  • Type of reaction
  • By-products
  • Product predictions and lots more

While preparing for NEET, it is essential to note down everything that’s important. Mechanisms that are not given in NCERT should also be studied so as to answer application-level questions.
